Reliable, methodical, and composed— three words to describe the wedding planner who made sure that the Felix’s spent the day not as hosts, but the guests of honor.
On April 19, 2024, Kyle and Suzi Felix said “I do” at Walker’s Landing in Amelia Island, Florida. The celebration was lively and the space hosted the celebration with a coastal, timeless aesthetic featuring details honoring the couple’s family and their traditions. The Felix’s counted on the Lulu Events team to bring their wedding day to life.
We sat down with Suzi to highlight all the details and the impact our team left on their wedding day experience.
Suzi and Kyle curated their wedding day to honor their family throughout the celebration. The wedding date the couple chose held significance to Suzi’s family. She shared, “we got married on April 19th, because my parents wedding anniversary is April 16th. My mom’s parents were the 17th. So I’ve always wanted to get married the closest day to that.” When choosing her veil, Suzi decided to include her mother’s wedding dress appliques on the fabric. The results were extraordinary, showcased as a beautiful detail with a story that will never lose meaning. When designing guest place cards, Suzi’s mother handcrafted them using oyster shells sourced from previous family gatherings. According to Suzi, “all the oyster place cards are from our Thanksgiving celebration. My mom took them, bleached them, cleaned them, and painted all the calligraphy and names.” From dedicating the Walker’s Landing fireplace to passed loved ones to highlighting her bridesmaids as her “something blue”, their thoughtful intentions were central to their wedding day
Our Day of Management Package was a perfect fit for the couple. They dedicated their engagement to curating their vision and selecting their dream team of vendors to bring it to life. The couple welcomed their closest family and friends across the United States to celebrate their marriage at Walker’s Landing in Amelia Island, Florida. The Felix’s knew that savoring every moment and with unconditional presence was their top priority. Suzi expressed, “we didn’t want to feel like we were hosting, we wanted to be the guests of honor. We wanted to be enjoying all of our people.”
As the day approached, Suzi and Kyle knew they needed to secure their wedding planner as a second brain. She recounted, “we wanted a wedding coordinator because we didn’t want either of us to be in the position of anything planning, or scheduling, or keeping things moving along on the day of. And we also knew that to have the day turn out like we were envisioning and prioritizing, someone needed to do that.” Considering the couple’s busy schedules and commitments outside of wedding planning, their lead planner, Vicki, was an asset to a wedding planning process where every second counted. As Suzi described, “I felt like any time I needed her, she answered. Literally within less than five minutes which was so helpful and just a backbone for the whole planning process.”
The couple understood the importance of finding a planner who felt like a best friend, with the expertise of a seasoned wedding planner. When coordinating an event with such significance and involvement, a relaxed and composed logistics leader is key. From the first meeting to the grand exit, Suzi felt the impact of having a wedding planner with a comforting spirit and specialized background. In Suzi’s words, “she was just calm and collected, which I feel like that radiated onto all of us.”
The Felix’s wedding day was a timeless coastal celebration with personal flare and deep intention found in each detail. When they trusted us with their big day, we provided a day where they could truly celebrate with no reservations. Suzi shared, “she just took all of the thoughts, priorities, and everything swirling in my brain and it transferred to her completely. I can’t reiterate enough how it allowed me to be so present. I just had so much confidence that she was on top of everything.”
