When Taily began planning Malia and Garret’s wedding at Epping Forest with Lulu Events, we never knew the story behind what led to this special moment.

While some love stories are sudden or born from grand gestures, Malia and Garett’s began with a friendship. At 16 and 17, their paths crossed when their friend group introduced them at church. As the months passed, Malia noticed something different about Garett—his selflessness, kindness, and love towards others made her fall for him. What started as friendship gradually grew into love. 

“This is a love I have never experienced in my entire life,” Malia said. From the beginning, Garett knew that one day he would marry her and so he confessed that one day he would. Malia fell in love with the way Garett put others before himself, his big heart, and his genuine care. For Garett, Malia’s warmth, her loving and playful spirit, captivated him in a way he’d never known before. Together, they found a love grounded in trust, admiration, and the beauty of simply being with one another. 

Like any other couple, their love wasn’t perfect or without challenges. Life tested them with hardships and obstacles, making them feel exhausted at times. But through it all, they continued to choose each other. “Falling in love with Malia has taught me selflessness I never thought I could experience,” Garett said. They learned early on that no matter what came their way, they were best friends first—and not even the toughest trials could come between them. They advise others to choose each other every single day, to love consistently, through the highs and the lows, and not just celebrate their love during Valentine’s Day but to make every day feel like it. 

When Garett proposed, their commitment to friendship, faith, and love was solidified. Malia’s maid of honor reminded her on her wedding day of a list she had made years ago of qualities she hoped for in her future partner—qualities Garett had checked off. He was her answered prayer and a sign that their love story wasn’t just about passion, but about building something everlasting and beautiful together. With each passing day, Garett taught Malia to love deeper, see the beauty in the ordinary, and appreciate the small acts that make life so special. 

During the planning process, it was important for Malia and Garett to maintain this principle—understanding that it wasn’t the details that mattered, but the love behind them. Regardless of the bickering over flowers and favors, every argument led them back to the bigger picture: celebrating their love and commitment to each other. “We had our moments of stress, but we gave each other time to breathe and kept reminding ourselves about what really mattered,” Malia said. 

Though wedding planning can be overwhelming, Malia and Garett’s journey to the altar at Epping Forest was made much easier with the support of our Lead Associate Taily, at Lulu Events. As the couple navigated the stress of organizing their big day, they felt an overwhelming sense of relief knowing that Taily was “knocking out every obstacle”, making them feel at ease. They were surprised and thankful to have connected with her so quickly from day one. They expressed that their three months out of planning with us couldn’t have been a smoother experience. Taily’s dedication allowed Malia and Garett to truly enjoy their wedding day, confident that every detail was being handled with care. 

As they settle into their “new normal” as newlyweds in their new home, they plan on celebrating their love with a simple and sweet Valentine’s Day, making pasta in the comfort of their shared space. They stress the importance of consistently expressing love, even through the smallest gestures.

Malia and Garett’s wedding on February 2, 2025, was not only a celebration of their enduring love, but also a beautiful reflection of the dedication that led them to this special moment. Their journey is a beautiful reminder that while the details of the big day matter, the foundation of your relationship is what truly makes it unforgettable.
